A new partnership between Three Wholesale and Mobius Networks will provide the infrastructure needed for the processing of NFC payments in the UK.

Mobius will be using Three's 'ultrafast' 4G and 3G network to provide a "high security private mobile pathway, sending all data across secure connections". This will be used to validate and process payments at partnered contactless terminals in retail locations.

It should be noted that Three's Wholesale branch differs from Three's consumer-facing mobile arm. This announcement will not enable NFC payments for Three's mobile subscribers.
