Orange, a European mobile operator, have revealed that over a third of all smartphones sold on their network during Q1 2013 were NFC-enabled.

No details were provided on the actual number of phones sold, but Orange have previously published plans to sell 10 million NFC-enabled devices by the end of 2013.

Orange have a strong history of pushing NFC technology, having been the first (and currently only) company to offer mobile NFC payments on Android smartphones in the UK through their Quick Tap service.
